He was there for a week, and then put on the "death" list - before it occured to anyone there to scan him for a microchip?

Gives me the heebyjeebies.

It's a nice enough ending. 8 months is a long time to be missing - she must be thrilled!! What a lucky cat. But what a horrible system the Chicago Shelter must be enforcing (or obviously, failing to enforce) for it to have gone that far.
