I saw Tim Allen's name on yahoo's "trending now" list and read a couple articles about the possiblity of him replacing Steve Carell on The Office. Of course these are nothing more than rumors, but wouldn't it be interesting if he did replace Carell? I've always been a fan...loved his Christmas movies and Home Improvement. I think having a big name actor replace Carell may keep the show on air. But then the show would have to move in a different direction.

Thoughts?

I don't know. I like him okay, but I admit I'm not wild about it. (In part I liked the others on "Home Improvement", particularly Wilson, more than him) Also his style/image strikes me as very middle-class Midwestern, which I'm not sure fits the "vibe" right.

I've always loved the focus on Michigan on Home Improvement though.

Scranton is considered a part of the rust belt...although it may relate more with the northeast (PA, NJ, and NY) than with the midwest.

I don't know what kind of character he would play were he to replace Carell, but it would interesting nonetheless.

I don't know. I actually think Tim Allen has enough facial gestures in his acting to pull this off. He also has a name that would perhaps draw a different audience and keep the show going.

I don't see Tim Allen pulling it off with the way the Office is now.

Steve Carell will be a tough act for anybody to follow. BUT...I think he would good... I remember him from Home Improvement back in the day, he is a funny guy. I think he would do a good job. He has that funny/goofy demeanor.

I agree. The show would have to change.

Agreed. I'm not suggesting he try to "re-live" his Home Improvement days, but perhaps there would be a way to incorporate his acting style into the Office that made him successful in the first place.
