The newspapers are speculating. She has not come out and said that she has cancer of any kind. Who knows what type of precedure she had done. It might have been something to help her manage her weight?

So sorry to say bayarea-girl, she has had a cancerous tumor removed from her pancreas !!! But the icon will no lie down and die, she plans to get right back up on the stage.
My thoughts and prayers goes out to her, family & friends.
How awful. I'm so sad to hear that The Queen Of Soul is so desperately ill.
Her songs bring back such good memories for me.
