Did not see this anywhere else on here. She passed yesterday. Had been ill awhile. She had a major hit in the 70's with a song called Poetry Man.

I loved her voice. So sorry to hear of her passing.
She also did a really nice cover of People Get Ready.

I loved her voice as well...her sound was quite different than others back then.... she really stood out as a performer

Am very saddened by this news.

I remember buying her first lp late in 1974 and it knocked my socks off. I was surprised when "Second Childhood" came out, and she changed labels from Shelter to Columbia.

She carried a burden but showed unconditional love to her daughter Valerie, who was born with severe brain damage. Her daughter died several years ago.

BWP is right, I love her version of "People Get Ready".
