LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Peter O'Toole is retiring from show business, saying he no longer has the heart for it and that it's time to "chuck in the sponge."
O'Toole, who turns 80 on Aug. 2, said in a statement Tuesday that his career onstage and on-screen fulfilled him emotionally and financially and put him in the company of fine people.
He had an awesome career despite the lack of a real Oscar award which he should have won at least once, but then again we all know it is all politics in Hollywood.
Wish him the best in his retirement. Interesting... Ernest Borgnine, who just passed away, mentioned a few years ago when he was 90 that he was going to continue to act because it kept him feeling young, and had no plans to stop.
I just saw Lawrence of Arabia again last month, what a fantastic movie.
