She thought she could do whatever she wanted because she made some movies, so she is above the law. The cop was right, he was very professional and gave her a couple chances, she only made herself look like a fool. She should be embarrassed by her actions and apologize but I doubt she is that mature. And people view celebrities as above others? That I've never understood at all, its crazy.

Great quote by kevxu. I've seen more polite drunks on Cops (like to call those shows like the Simpsons did -
"Police Cops") than this hollywood royalty witch. Geez, even her husband was telling her to shut up.

Remember that really dumb film where she and a brother go back in time to the 1950's and teach people how to misbehave? Good grief...and she's apparently proud of her career?
I don't understand your complaint.
You're blaming the police for having to handcuff idiots who don't know how to behave?
Handcuffing a drunk driver might be justified, handcuffing somebody who has not broken the law is not.
And broadcasting a police video online for the whole world to watch and have fun with is disgusting, a medieval fashion which should have been long abolished.
And by the way, in a situation like that quite a few of us would likely resort to the line "do you know who I am" if this would help us or our partners. We are just not famous enough.

she did break the law and was charged with physical obstruction of another. The cop had no idea if she had a weapon when she left the vehicle after he ordered her not to.
Most police cars are equipped with video cams now. Protects the cops and the citizens. Nothing wrong with it being released. No more so than the story being released to the press. If someone doesn't want bad press--don't break the law. Period. End of the story.
The dashboard cam video shows me that cops have WAY too much power. Making an arrest for what she did? Pathetic. It is terrifying to me how many people believe that we should "obey orders" of police officers no matter what. Reese Witherspoon behaved in a basically normal, composed way, while the officer acted irrational, immature, and unstable in my opinion. There will rightfully be discussion of celebrity entitlement mentality. I hope there is equal attention paid to the power-trip mentality of law enforcement. Talk about thinking you're above the law... wow.
Part of the problem is she is still talking about it in the press, Keeping it fresh news. She did not pull a Lindsey Lohan and still has a good reputation. She needs to just let the story die. It was dumb behavior but pales in comparison to people like LiLo, Andy Dick and others.
Saw the video and the police officer wasn't doing anything wrong - he was being polite and professional. Sweet Reese's
behavior was not normal for pete's sake her husband more or less kept saying to shut up. When you are on a public
street as they were you're open to be photographed or video taped. Since she is an "actress" couldn't she "act"
by being cooperative, compliant and mature.
