John Belushi only appeared on four seasons on "Saturday Night Live" and in seven feature films before his untimely death at the age of 33, but he made an indelible impact on American comedy (and college life). Now more than 30 years after his death, a new movie about his life is in the works, and it was announced on Monday that an unlikely young actor has been cast in the lead role: Emile Hirsch.

Jim Belushi would be better. Who knows John better than Jim?

I've always thought John Belushi was extremely overrated on SNL. And in some of his movies like in Animal House, in which he was the most boring character.

But he did have some occasional funny skits, like the café owner that only served cheeseburgers, chips, and Pepsi.

How is a guy who is 65 years old going to play someone who died at 33?

I thought so too. Jane Curtain spoke of him. She said they were good friends early on and would go on a lot of the same auditions. She said once he became a "big star", he changed. Not for the better. She said he became a huge chauvinist.

Chris Farley added a lot to SNL - he was great on that show.

He was one of the best comics ever on SNL. I loved the Samurai bits, Weekend Update "But Nooooooo" and others. He was a master of physical comedy and comic facial expressions (the classic eyebrow raise). He was brilliant in the Blues Brothers and Animal House, IMHO 2 of the funniest movies ever. A lot better than the cr*p today. He will always be one of my favorite funnymen. RIP John
