Yes the heroin problem is one of the worst in the country here in my area. The young people are dying at alarming rates. It is everywhere. R.I.P.

Being an addict doesn't make someone a bad person. Stupid, irresponsible, and 100 other things, sure - but not necessarily bad.

Killing yourself with heroin and leaving 3 children behind? Yeah... that one, you can make an argument for. No sympathy here for Mr. Hoffman. My sympathy tonight is all for his kids, and the other people in his life who loved him and expected better from him.

He was simply a person with a hole in the soul to fill.

Unfortunately, he chose to fill it with (like so many do these days) a drug.

I can't believe he was only 46. Looked more like 64.

Saw it here first, and ran off to do a quick Google search for verification.

DH loves him... I liked him in quite a few things, mainly "Pirate Radio".

Well, this evening's gonna suck...

You hit the nail on the head, picklejuice. There are many people in this world who drink, do drugs or both because their soul has a hole or is lost and people should not judge others because one day it could happen to them or someone they know. Everybody handles pressure/demons differently.

Who are we to judge him ? we have no right because we dont know what was going on in his life nor his demons . I hope the world lets him rest in peace .
