Great in every role he played. I particularly liked him as Col. Stonehill the stock trader in the original "True Grit" (to Kim Darby's Mattie Ross - "You are a damned nuisance."), and with Jack Elam and Ernest Borgnine as one of a trio of homicidal brothers in my favorite bad movie, "Hannie Caulder".

Strother Martin was one of my favorites. loved his voice. him and Paul Newman must have been great pals, they acted together in several films. he was great in Slap Shot and in Cool Hand Luke delivered one of the best lines in "what we have here is a failure to communicate".
