I didn't realize how talented she was. Very sad. L'Wren Scott's notable red carpet looks for Nicole Kidman, other stars - latimes.com

Giving someone money does not take away mental illness.

And men don't owe you something because you have a vagina. Got it?

You don't know what was in her mind, and who's even implied that it was Jagger's fault? Everything I've read about her mentions the collapse of her business and the possibility that this deeply impacted her lifestyle, but even those articles don't attempt to point to that as a reason. It also seems she didn't feel close enough to anyone to confide in them. Also, note that it was Jagger's daughter, not her own family, who found a burial spot and is making funeral arrangements.

The fact is that it's very sad when someone feels such despair that he or she chooses this route. It must be that all the person's feeling is extreme sadness, loneliness, and pain to make that decision. How tragic.

Not to discredit or discount the real and very good points made about mental illness, and doubtless Ms. Scott was unhappy about her fashion business going kaput. But she was a smart and savvy woman who could definitely have rebounded from it. Bankruptcy = not a big deal these days.

So I want to float the following hypothesis: No note was found. And her assistant found her "kneeling from a doorknob." This makes me suspect that Scott was a suicide but an accidental one - a victim of fatal auto-asphyxiation, which many adults (women too) engage in for "pleasure." (She probably thought she had time to, er, finish, before her assistant came over). No matter that the reports state she was "fully clothed" when found - clothes are not necessarily a barrier to this kind of thing.

Someone who is 6'3 inches tall and truly wanted to hang themselves would more likely would have done so from a higher vantage point, to ensure the deed was thoroughly and quickly done.

I suspect the suicide story is definitely being played up in deference to her family and to Jagger and that publicists have had a huge role in making sure the death was deemed "suicide."

Again, just a hypothesis ...

Google "Marcus Jannes". That will give you an idea as to how its done - if you are able to handle seeing a live suicide. Not for the squeamish. He did himself in the same way Scott did. Pretty intense.

Hangings from a few feet off the ground are more common than one would think. In psych hospitals and jails, hangings from toilets, low lockers, or bed frames are not unusual. It takes just a few minutes of will power and then the oxygen depletion causes a faint. Hanging doesn’t require complete suspension. Death occurs within about 5-10 minutes after cutoff of oxygen or blockage of blood flow to the brain (anoxia).

Brittany Penebre was her long-time assistant who found her body. L'Wren had sent a text message to Ms Penebre at 8:30am on day of her death, asking her to “come by” at 10am. When the assistant arrived, there was no answer, but she let herself into the apartment and found Ms Scott hanged from the bathroom doorknob with one of her self-designed scarves, no less. Sometimes suicides want their bodies found quickly, so as not to make an ugly scene with decay. Stands to reason a person so enmeshed in the fashion and beauty business would want this.

Some have said she wanted to save face and the financial issues which were scheduled to be made public two days after she died would have been too embarrassing for someone whose best friends were super-rich---best friends Ellen Barkin is a billionaire, and there's Nicole Kidman (who lives in the same building). Others have thought she might have been playing a "long game" to wait until Jagger wanted to settle down and maybe marry her, but her 50th birthday would have been next month and that didn't seem to be happening. And presumably she spent the last of her childbearing years with him, with no child.

But, who knows.

Yet she left her $9 million dollar estate to Mick Jagger? It makes no sense.

This is the first I've heard of her. She left Jagger everything and her family nothing. So this implies some serious family issues with emotional instability resulting? Who knows? Tragic. Money, fame, and fortune can't buy happiness as it is often said.

I suppose I will never understand why someone would take their own life.

Eight million of that was the appraised current value of the NY apartment, which was bought through a management company, but the mortgage some say was paid off by Jagger. So she only had a million.
