Robert De Niro — who’s headlined his fair share of mob classics, including “The Godfather Part II,” “Goodfellas,” “Casino” and “Analyze This” — never saw a single episode of “The Sopranos.”
We have it on CD packed away somewhere. Watched re-runs on TV, A & E?, up to the last season. I liked it because I got to see the Italian food they were making and talking about & the Italian phrases they used. Things came back in my mind, growing up, expressions that my family would use/say. Good acting and good story lines, excellent, but violent, not crazy about some of the scenes--were too much for me. Pauly was scaaaary....
Actors have their own personal likes and dislikes like anyone. Maybe he's not into Italian mobsters...He's an actor after all, we don't know much about him--just the parts he's played.
It just doesn't interest me and I wager DeNiro feels the same.
He probably doesn't even own a tv. Lifes too short etc.
Here's the thing about Actors - the characters they play can be 100% opposite of what the real man is like.
That's why DeNiro made so much $$$ - he can ACT.
