His character in the "Airport" movies was so good that it gave Chuck Connors the chance to do that great parody of it in "Airplane!".

When they interviewed Kennedy once about Airplane!, he said he found it found it hilarious and fun.
Years later he would work with the brilliant Zucker/Abrams/Zucker team in the "Naked Gun" series.

George Kennedy was a very versatile actor who could play nearly anything. More than anything, he was a joy to watch. I think his best roles were the ones when he played a police officer, whether it was drama or The Naked Gun. I just think he handled that as well, if not better, than most actors.

It was my understanding that he and his wife could not have any kids so they adopted some and one imparticular her mother wanted her back and the girl told George , No you and so and so are my parents and I don't want to go back and they finalized the adoption . RIP George you will be missed .
