I don't even know that musical genius is the right description of Prince. That doesn't begin to describe just how creative he was. He was a musicians' musician.

That's a very valid point, and I have to remember that the nay sayers don't think of music like a musician. They just listen to music but don't get the craft.
Prince was a living legend, and many musicians knew this. He was almost mystical in some circles.
He was a master of his craft. There are very few current artists that don't list him as an influence to their music. He has been, and will remain to be, one of the greats. The industry lost another legend far too soon.
Yes, imo Prince deserves all the attention he's getting but how could you forget all the attention Jackson received worldwide in 2009 for months?
Yes, Michael did get lots of attention. Maybe it's because I live in Minneapolis and have met Prince on 3 different occasions that this seems so much more. Here in the city it is so much more because he stayed "one of ours". He always returned here - his recording studio was/is here - and people would comment on how he was just a regular guy when they'd run into him. He didn't talk much, people knew this, but he was still friendly in his own way.
The bridge will stay lit purple for 1 week. I'm also impressed with the cover of the New Yorker.
It's sad that he died alone. Maybe if someone had been with him this could have turned out different.
For a guy that was 5'2" he was bigger than life and I don't think I've ever heard anyone mention his size because he just seemed bigger.
I think part of the appeal of Prince was that he was private, but not in a strange reclusive way like MJ. He was unique and one of a kind without being weird.
I never realized he was only 5'2". I guess that explains all the heels. ;-)
Ya know dues Along time ago I thought the song 1999 was written IN 1999!! (I should have known better though as by 1999 music wasnt that good anymore (Pop music))
