Lol Unless we're speculating as to whether she shoplifted elsewhere, there's nothing TO speculate about. She's a shoplifter, and this particular store had been a target of hers before.
You're correct that she's a shoplifter.
Please go back and read the whole thread.
The speculation is that she shoplifted because she has dementia-which is ridiculous because of her well known history of financial problems.
Gelson's employees told us they saw a pattern with Kazan -- she would fill up her basket and pretend to walk toward the checkout line, but would then make a quick exit out the door as another group of customers was leaving. We're told security footage backs this up.
Workers were ready for her the last time she came in, and notified the folks in loss prevention ... who were waiting to bust her at the exit. We're told they waited for Kazan to get outside before nabbing her.

You don't think that dementia can contribute to financial problems?
Her current issues stem from medical bills after a car crash ... a crash caused by her because she drifted into oncoming traffic. Dementia could be a contributing factor to all of this.
Here in NYC and yes, even in wealthy Manhattan you see many middle aged white women digging through garbage bags outside of supermarkets (dumpster diving).
These women are *NOT* homeless but are rather well enough dressed and look well cared for/put together.
Saw a woman in nice coat, hat, and leather gloves going through the bags in front of an upscale bakery (Maison Kayser) one night earlier this week, and just saw two more this evening at another supermarket near our house digging away into those garbage bags.
Years ago bakeries and places would sell "day old bread" or give those who could afford full price some sort of deal on things that were still good, but soon would be thrown away. Seems that could be an system that should be brought back.
Can't see Lainie Kazan dumpster diving, but then again is the shame of being arrested for committing a crime any less worse?

NYC is a big place. WHERE do you actually see this? I rarely see it. I do see people collecting bottles and cans for the deposit refund on curb recycle day.
