Given that he's battling emphysema, it's understandable why he'd want to slow down.
Emphysema was one of the things listed on my father's death certificate, and in the last year of his life he couldn't even walk a city block without stopping to rest.
Long live the grouch funny man of the radio.
I started listening in 2000.... at that time he was already on the radio for more than 30 years. What a run. Bernie & Sid take over for him next week.
Yes, he was all of that, plus very humorous and very entertaining. While the incident with the Rutgers' women's basketball team was a low point in his career, he learned from that. I respect him for being man enough to apologize in person to the girls and their families.
I believe it was in the mid to late 90's when I started listening to him, every morning. I "woke up" with Imus in the Morning on my alarm radio. Haven't been able to get his program though here for about the last 3 yrs. or so. Didn't he have cancer at one time in the past 15 yrs. or so ?
He certainly does have a lot of mileage on him at 77.
