I heard about Simon's death about an hour and a half ago on CNN,

yes I loved the goodbye girl and the young girl quinn cummings who played the little one in the movie .Now im dating myself here but his wife was elaine joyce who was married to bobby van who passed of a brain tumor in 1980 my senior year of high school and I thought wow he was a good looking guy and then he died around in his 30s and I felt so sorry for elaine joyce to have lost a husband so young . Now she spent a good deal of yrs with neil simon and im glad they found each other .

I remember Elaine Joyce (Neil Simon's widow) and Bobby Van, too--they were both frequent guests on the game show circuit, especially Tattletales (hosted by Bert Convy, who also died of brain cancer) and Match Game. Van looked as if he were in his 30s, but he was in his 50s when he died.

He and Elaine Joyce made a cute couple. She had a quirky look about her that was attractive then, but she didn't age well.
