Well, she had a very good and interesting LONG life, and I think that is the most anyone can hope for.

(And she played Mrs. Oleson wonderfully well, I think.)

She was very good in the role. Richard Bull, who played her husband, died several years ago.

She did play that role well. My guess is, she was a perfectly lovely woman (as was Margaret Hamilton who played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz), and she played an awful woman very believably.

Rest in peace, Katherine.

Speaking of Margaret Hamilton, she was the kindly "Cora" in the Maxwell House commercials for a number of years in the '70s.

My favorite "Mrs. Oleson" line: "Nels, make her a WIDOW!!!" when Nellie ran off and eloped. with the barefoot hick in bib overalls.

Yes, that was a shotgun wedding in reverse, lol.

The home life with Nells and Mrs. Oleson was priceless, all the bickering they did was such good filler for the show. Mrs. Oleson's plaque she ordered for the blind school, her introduction to Hester Sue, her trying to cheat Caroline on the eggs, the poison ivy, the honey bee's Albert sold her, the spying she did on people as a telephone operator, the gossip paper she started, that one where she wanted to change the town name to Olesonville.

I got a lot of good entertainment off Katherine MacGregor, RIP

She was exceptional as Mrs. Oleson. My favorite episode was The Preacher Takes a Wife where it was revealed that 25 yrs earlier she was engaged to a preacher who broke their engagement shortly before the wedding because he wasn't sure if he loved God more than her.
