Her son, Terry Melcher, didn't commit suicide, he died of skin cancer.

He was also a highly successful and respected music producer.

One classy lady. While it’s sad she has passed, we can definitely celebrate her longevity of 97 years.

Yes, we can; not to mention that she had good health and QOL most every day of those 97 years. She went out socially, attended meetings; she was not a recluse.
My late mother used to refer to Pneumonia (at least the kind we're talking about here) as the "Old Person's Friend". It really feels like a gradual ebbing away, apparently; no pain, no suffering. There are many worse ways to go.

We should celebrate Doris. She lived a long life, with happiness and pain as we all do. She could do it all, and well. Sing, dance, and act.

I think she is fabulous. We have many of her movies at home. Fortunately she left so much happiness behind for us to continue to enjoy.

Just yesterday afternoon my SO asked if she was still alive. I was happy to say yes.

I can't say it any better than what's already been posted. She certainly seemed to stand out, not only as a performer but, and more importantly, as a person. My parents would watch her movies when I was a kid and she always gave me a sort of "safe" feeling. Now I own some of her movies myself.

I would get occasional emails from/about her animal foundation and sometimes they'd mention her upcoming birthdays and it would always make me happy knowing she was still with us.

I'm going to try not to be sad and, instead, celebrate her and her life.
