"On Jan. 8, Designated Survivor actor Adan Canto died at age 42. The cause of death was appendiceal cancer, a rare disease that occurs when a tumor forms in the appendix. According to the Cleveland Clinic, appendiceal cancer affects about 1 to 2 people out of every 1 million in the U.S."

To be honest, I don't know of Adan Canto, but I'm familiar with the type of cancer he died from.

When my son was 18, he developed a ruptured appendix, which required emergency surgery. Of course, I was worried to death, stressed, etc.

So he has the surgery, recovering from surgery, etc. The surgeon comes into his room, I'm there, his grandmother is there, my husband is there. The surgeon tells us that as a matter of protocol, they biopsied the appendix, and lo and behold, they found a cancerous tumor on the appendix. It was so small, they were able determine it hadn't spread or anything like that, and with the appendix removed, no further treatment would be required.

The surgeon went on to explain that often, this kind of cancer isn't discovered until the patient is middle-aged, and nearly too late to treat.

Man...i burst into tears.

Never even heard of cancer forming there.

I can't place the guy.. I watched DS, but.. I just don't recall him.

To me, i'd think it's along the lines of colon cancer.. That's making a huge uptick in people under the age of 50.

I've had colonoscopies since turning 50 and watched a video of polyp removal during them. I looked up polyps in the appendix
out of curiosity to see if they checked that area and they had some where polyps were found in there.
