Just for fun.

Kevin Bacon - I don't think the poor guy even gets nominated for anything and he isn't an actors darling like Sean Penn but he is so darn GOOD.

Hope one day he gets the recognition he deserves.

Great idea for a thread and I agree with Kevin Bacon, he's done a lot of good work. But AnthonyB, you might get more hits on the movie forum. I think it's the guys and gals that make it look easy that are the most underrated. They have said that about actors like Paul Newman, Robert Redford, Tom Hanks.

I really liked Kevin Bacon in Mystic River, The Big Picture, Wild Things, which he also directed, Diner, The River Wild... He was different in all of these roles, the definition of an actor vs. a personality. Good call!

I happen to think that Marissa Tomei (my cousin vinny , mono lisa vito ) is very under rated . this lady is a fine actress and she proved that in The bedroom window with sissy spacek and nick addams . I loved that movie and like most movies that she is in . One of the good ones that never gets an award . Oh wait she got one for Mona lisa vito but has not since . What is wrong with hollywood that deserving actresses never get the biggie awards ?

William Shatner, he is a genius but a real SOB. The whole Star Trek thing would have never happened if not for him.

I loved him in Murder in the First. I also heard he was amazing in The Woodsman. Plus playing a pedophile as he did in that movie, the most unsympathetic character imaginable, takes real courage.

What? Captain Kirk an SOB?! Funny though, he does strike me that way. But really, you think he's a good actor? Anybody ever catch his spoken recording of, "Strawberry Fields Forever"? It's quite funny, with all the dramatics and emoting. Beam me outta here!

I hear ya, it would. I haven't seen it for that exact reason. But Kevin Bacon seems like a stand-up guy all around.

This is kind of a tough thread, because a lot of times I'll be watching a movie and think, 'This is a good actor. Why doesn't he/she get more credit?' So by definition it's the ones we don't think about much that you want. I'll tell you just off the top of my head who's a great actor, he may not be underrated enough, and that would be fair, but I don't think i've ever heard him picked out the way DeNiro or Pacino and Penn always are, and that's Lawrence Fishburne. I think he's on TV now, but I don't know on what, but Anthony if you haven't yet, check out a movie called Always Outnumbered. It was on HBO but you can find it somewhere.
