count me in the "what's the big deal" crowd. I think some of his movies are decent and don't care much for his personal antics (to say the least) but neither of these have any bearing of what I believe his parenting skills are, mainly b/c I know SQUAT about Mel Gibson the dad. there are far more despicable and questionable people out there having kids that don't garner a thread on this site

I have never cared for Mel Gibson. I did like him in Signs, that's about it. Is too bad he is not living up to his professed Christian standards. And in this anti-Christian climate, is not a good thing for him to be such a poor example of their many very fine tenets.

The reason it's a big deal is because he still has a wife of almost 30 years and 6 children with HER. While she did file for divorce recently, the conception would have occurred before the divorce papers were served.
