I think that's a bit of an overstatement. You certainly can make the argument that Michael Jackson has more influence than the Eagles, especially in the mainstream pop genres, but much of what is responsible for the resurgence of modern 'country' consists solely of a bunch of artists doing their best Eagles impersonations.
And on top of that...lets look at some 2008 numbers from RIAA...

Granted this may be 2008 figures and Metallica did release an album in late 2008 that became their fifth consecutive studio album to debut at number one on the Billboard charts in the United States. (Michael Jackson never did that either. Just saying.) From that we may surmise Metallica had surpassed Jackson on the above list by now.
Even Michael Jackson's sister had more albums reach #1 than he did.
I think everybody is bored with teenyboppers gushing that "Michael is God" in their little hissy fits.
Beth was the name of a Kiss song. You should change your screen name to something more Jackson-like.
