It is sad news, sadly his health had not been good the last couple months. Mr. Kronkite goes back many, many years. There was that old saying that Walter Kronkite was the most trusted man in America. He took over the CBS evening news in 1962 and was with them for 20 years. What a distinguished career he had! He reported on some of the most important and contentious events our country had scene from the Kennedy assassination to the kidnapped Iran hostages of 1980. RIP. Mr. Kronkite.
I really loved Walter Cronkite. What a loss. I still remember him on TV reporting the death of JFK. He cried. What a sweatheart he was and a very fine journalist.
Godspeed Walter I remember his exchange with John Glenn, who was sitting in a capsule atop a Mercury-Atlas rocket, about to be blasted into orbit around the earth, the first American to do so. Cronkite said something like "John Glenn, as you sit upon this rocket, about to take America's dreams into outer space, what are your thoughts." Glenn replied "The only thing I am thinking about is that this bird was built by the lowest bidder."
The youth of America will probably not appreciate this passing...it is sad when entertainment celebrity importance surpasses that of someone who contributes far more to the foundation of our existance, history and milestone. MJ was for some silly confounded reason more important to them, and that is okay....but it should be kept in context the contritbution made to society that few hold.
I certainly hope that the next week that the media places Walter Cronkite in the prestigeous position that his life should hold.
I'm usually loath to dance on someone's grave, but in this case I'll make an exception. Rot in hell, traitor.
