There have been rumors of her "problems" for years. So sad.
A teen actresses' movie career is typically a very short one. Unlike a lot of 25 year old girls who still look young enough to play a teenager, Amanda was actually only 16 or 17 when she starred in Can't Buy Me Love.
She came from a well grounded family who lives in Greeley, Colorado, and given the differences between life in L.A. vs. Greeley, I always thought she just grew tired of the movie rat race and went back home.
Most adults go through bad times in their lives, but I don't think Amanda's problems were particularly notable. 8 years after she left Hollywood, she did a fine job in a low budget flick that was filmed in Colorado, and could still play a convincing teen after that much absence.
She was naturally beautiful, for sure. It's tragic to see anyone go that young, but apparently, she had suffered heart problems for some time.
She was so pretty. I even remember when she appeared on Silver Spoons. Talk about your pretty little white girl. (paging Charles Ramsey in Cleveland )
