Don't make me choose.... I would have to go with Fred for body style, he moved very elegantly. But Gene seemed more athletic in style.
Speaking of dancers, I just viewed the movie White Christmas over this weekend, man, that Vera ellen could dance.
Gotta choose the guy who taught Sinatra how do dance-- and quite well!!
No doubt Fred = elegant, but no contest, IMO. See his choreography in Anchors Aweigh" with Jerry The Mouse (my favorite.)

Gene Kelly, not only for his fantastic style, ability and grace, but also put his personality into every move. Fred Astaire of course an elegant dancer, but to me, seemed to lack personality or much style.
