If this is true, I'd say that it's laughable at best.

She reminds me a lot of Madonna. Great to look at and knows her marketing but she didn't get the lion's share in the talent department. They're both hard workers and I applaud them for that; they deserve their success for that reason alone. But I don't see JL getting an Oscar in this lifetime.

I'll admit she put on a solid performance in that role and I enjoyed the movie since I am a big Hector Lavoe fan, but we all know the Oscars are popularity contests and for the most part self congratulatory (as she is demonstrating in her statement). You are either "in" or "out" with the judges/voters and it has very little to do with who is the most talented or deserving.

Many of the movies that win leave much to be desired, IMO. But the actors are in a caliber that JL will never reach. She was great in El Cantante, but she is very well suited for that role being a Nuyorican herself. I just don't think it was an Oscar worthy performance. Thing is, that part of her comes through in many of the roles she has played and I think that is what does her in. I really like her movies, just not her acting as much.

Haven't seen the movie yet. Hope it is good. The last couple of movies she did were horrible.

I love that woman. I think is beautiful and quite intelligent. But if she thinks she deserved an Oscar for El Cantante, she is delusional.

I think Jennifer Lopez just isnt "likeable" to most people and someone mentioned something about her true self coming thru in her characters and I think that is so very true and definitely "does her in." I have not seen this movie but I would like to. I dont think she will ever get an Oscar nomination but then again I never thought a rap song about being a pimp would actually win an Oscar - so you know anything is possible.

She isn't likeable to most people because she has a well known repuatation of treating people like crap and thinking she is better than everyone else. It's bad enough to do that when you are at the top of your game but when your star is falling fast? Hence the laughter off all the minions as her big ass falls down the ladder. Should have been nicer to folks on her way up!
