There definitely was something about Pernell that I found interesting and it was his humor, especially when he was in the show "Trapper John,M.D." RIP Pernell.

I did not know he'd died. Wow! The whole cast of the Bonanza gang is gone now.

When I was a little girl I had a crush on Pernell. I thought he was so "cute" and I liked his black clothes. I thought Little Joe was cute, too, but didn't like his big ears, thought he was over-rated. (Liked Little Joe's looks better on "Prairie".)

But my tastes have sorta' changed. Whenever I watch an old episode of 'Bonanza' I find myself attracted to Hoss the most. His was the best character. Lorne Greene was sexy.

I know just what you mean. Hoss was a gentle spirit. I met Dan Blocker when he was in town for a visit to the university he attended. Hoss was Dan and Dan was Hoss. Dan was a very nice man who was genuinely kind and caring and quite soft spoken.

There was quite a crowd and when he got off the plane there was total silence. My little cousin, Liz, could not pronounce her h's yet and she yelled out "I OSS!!" It was so cute and he heard her. That's why he made a beeline to us.

I didn't start watching Bonanza until a few years ago as an adult. There aren't many TV dads that can compare to Ben Cartwright and one of the things I like about the show is how the relationship between Ben and Adam is slightly different than with the other two boys. Ben seemed to have a higher expectation for Adam. Adam was a renaissance man, of sorts, but still fitting into the setting of the West. Roberts played the role perfectly. Although the show was still good after he left (after all, so many of the episodes from the start didn't feature all four stars prominently in the same episode), the series definitely missed the cerebral and well-rounded Adam.

Roberts was not one to give many interviews. I knew he was up in years and I was hoping that he would give a last interview about his Bonanza years before he passed.

RIP

Always enjoyed him on "Bonanza."

Well, he did live far longer than the other "Cartwrights." Lorne Greene was 72, Dan Blocker was only 43 and Michael Landon was 54.

"Candy" (David Canary) is still around, though. He was born in 1938.

Friday night on my train ride home, I played back some of those u-tube videos of 'Tribute to Adam'. Especially enjoyed that one video of all the famous tv/movie stars that were either on the same episode or it was a compilation of the many shows with these stars. I couldn't really tell using my 'lil phone.
Wish I had remembered over the weekend to view them on the internet at home. Adam, er I mean, Pernell, sure had a smooth voice. I'm surprised he didn't get more recognition for it.

What a damn shame. Pernell Roberts. Cool, confident, sophisticated, a fighter if pushed, a man of quiet quality, inspiring. The world was a better place knowing that he was still alive in it. I will miss him and enjoy his work for the rest of my life.
