What makes a true celebrity? (dancing, acting, picture, editor)

A while ago, for someone to be called a celebrity, the person had to have a true talent indeed: dancing, writing, directing, acting, singing, etc.

Today anybody is a celebrity. Reality shows are here to prove it!

What, in your opinion, makes a true celebrity and who would be considered one nowadays, if any? Please elaborate on your choice.

A celebrity is someone who is recognized by people who have never met that person. You can be a celebrity for other reasons than "having talent"

Well I have to disagree here... to me a celebrity is someone who has natural outstanding talent and/or has perfected an art-related ability for a long time...

The fact that many people know who someone is does not make one a celebrity at all.

A celebrity (sometimes referred to as a celeb in popular culture) is a person who is easily recognized in a society or culture. That is the definition in the dictionary.

Anyways I understand your question, I guess the question could have been worded a bit differently. I know you werent looking for the actual dictionary definition.
