Can anyone recommend a cell phone or land line for someone who is blind?
My friend is elderly, is in a wheelchair and blind. She wants voice activation and caller ID announcement.

I'm looking at Jitterbug, but is there anything else out there?

Thanks

The best cell phone for a visually impaired or blind person is the The LG VX8350 on Verizon its probably the most user friendly off the shelf cell phone for the blind or visually impaired, due in part that it has an easy-to-feel keypad, several voice command options - and Text to Speech, one can easily make phone book entries independently. Overall this is probably the best option and has some nice feature's:

Voice Commands

Digit dialing. You speak the digits; the phone dials them for you.
Dial by name. Speak a name that has been programmed in your LG VX8350 phone book and the phone will call that person.
Voicemail indicator with speech. If you miss a call and a voicemail has been left; the phone will tell you that you have a voice mail.
Caller ID with speech. You can hear either the name from your contact list or digits of the caller.
Status of the battery and signal strength.

This phone has been out for 2-3 years so you may have to buy it on eBay Amazon or shopper.com -

Verizon also offers a new service to the visually impaired called "Talks". Talks is a assistive type of technology that converts displayed text into highly intelligible speech it converts on-screen text into speech so the visually impaired will know what is on the screen. Talks is available on the Motorola Q9c, which runs Windows Mobile 6.1

Good luck

Jitterbug GreatCall - Official home of Jitterbug, easy-to-use cell phones, award-winning health and wellness apps, and affordable monthly plans
Others are I phone, they have an app that will make the entire flatscreen accessible.
Verizon, most of the phones have voice dialing.
As for a landline, this phone is the best I have found, Low Vision Aids | Magnifiers | Talking Watches | Low Vision Watches - Independent Living Aids
