Is it possible to block a specific phone number from your cell phone- both voice and text?
Yes if you have service with one of the post-paid carriers, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T or Sprint you can call the carrier directly and they can have that specific incoming number blocked on a text or voice call -If that person decides to block their number by using *67 when they call you, all bets are off.
That's pretty crazy, isn't it? Well, it's worth a try. Thank you for the info. The carrier said that it couldn't be done, but I figured that there must be some way....I just need to keep speaking with customer service until someone knows how to do it.
I think if the messages are considered threatening or harassing you may want to get the situation escalated up to Customer Account Management with your carrier - they should be able to block that specific number - if it's from someone who knew the old owner of your number and keeps texting or sending spam you may want to check out the website for your carrier and look for the option of logging into your account - Most carriers allow users to set up preferences regarding their text messaging, including blocking certain numbers.
You can also change the text message settings on your cell phone. Depending on which model you have, you may be able to block certain numbers just by changing your settings - go into your settings or advanced settings and there should be a prompt for text settings, check out the manual or if you might have tossed it out you should be able to go online a get the abbreviated version of it by the manufacture - Good Luck.

If the messages are threatening or harassing, call the police in the caller's jurisdiction. This is a felony in most states. Better yet, if possible, get a restraining order against the caller. Most jails don't allow cell phone, so problem solved!
Not redy to call the police yet. We went with a $5 a month add-on for kids that enables us to block specific numbers.
Thanks for the great advice.
