ok start by looking online for the local cricket or metro pc or virgin mobile or saighttalk or boost mobile .. this companys do have packages that some type of smart phone package in there line up ..but remember some of the companys are more local calling plans in the area you live in ..
they are have a higher rate national plan but if you only really need is a local phone plan then they have a some great local plans for less then $.40.oo dollars a month for you talk and text on ..

You do have to realize that a prepaid cell requires that you purchase the phone and not at a highly discounted rate. This is based on no contract. My suggestion is to find out how your coverage is for your area and who has good reception. Then pick a suitable phone. If you don't need internet and email then you wont need a data plan and can pick a phone that doesn't require it. The 4 majors (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint) (postpaid) are all moving towards minimum data plan requirements for specific phones.
cricket and boost and metro pc has blackberry and a smart phones plans for $.60.oo dollars a month plans ..it depends on the area you live in where some of the areas in the states..

i had cricket for a while it worked in AZ and southern areas of the states ..i went to metro p.c. for there basic $.50.oo smart phone plan and it works great for where i live at ..

It's a shame that us customers are allowing these giants to hold us captive; the data packages are just another way to increase profits.
The data packages are a way to avoid arguments from customers based on overage and $300+ bills for a month. Would you rather pay an additional $10-30 or an additional $200+?
Question please, if metro doesnt have "3G" does that mean that you cant use the blackberry the same as you would on sprint, att etc? Can you browse the web? If so would it just be really slow (as opposed to 3G)? Why wouldnt everyone be getting blackberry witrh metro pcs if it were the same as getting it with the higher priced contract companies? Buy a phone that doesn't require a data package. Not every phone at Verizon requires a data package.
