I bought a Droid in February 2010. I ahve had endless problems with it. I am getting my 9th unit today. This is frustrating. Two of them were nto defective, but seven were. What is up? Are these things just junky?

1st: Top (on off) button quit functioning.

2ND Some function would not work (I cannot remember what it was) from the time I received it. I think that the speaker phone function would not work.

3rd. Stolen

4th Locked up, would not come on after a few weeks of use. Just did nothing. I think that they figured out that the charging port was bad and it would not charge the battery nor operate while plugged in to the power cord.
[
5th destroyed in a car accident.

6th quit working after a long time. Sometimes I could not answer when someone walled. Sometimes it woudl randomly make calls to people in my inbox while it was sitting on my desk. Sometimes I would start doing something (like making a call, or reading an E-mail and it woudl just go back to the home screen. It did some other bizzarre things too.

7th (Droid 2.) Worked for a few weeks and then would cycle though the red eye thing and the word Droid, but would not proceed past that. [/SIZE]

8th (Droid 2) Microphone only works about 50% of the time. The rest of the time, no one can hear me talking and the voice recognition will not recognize that there is any sound at all.

I think that maybe on warranty replacements they send out phones that were previously returned and "refurbished" SOme of these probalmes are things that they might not catch when testing the phone, so they may have thought that it was fine and sent it back out as refurbished. Not sure.

The warranty will run out in a few days, so I will have to start paying for them as the break now.

My wife and I are on our original Droids.
I'd say you were unlucky.

Hers: 10 months old.
His: 7 months old.

The build quality on Motorola phones is terrible. And MotoBlur is just as bad.
