I'm in the market for a new smart phone. I have an HTC phone now and I've been satisfied with it, but I wanted to know what people think about Motorola, LG and Samsung smart phones. Is there any significant differences in quality and performance or are they pretty much the same? Thanks for your input.

I think if you ask 100 people you're going to get 100 different replies as to why they like this or that, etc.
Typically, my luck with the Samsung phones has been better than Motorola or HTC. I haven't tried a LG smart phone. The only complaint is that Samsung typically is slower to roll out updates than the other guys - we only just now are getting Android 2.2 on the Fascinate units. But in terms of reception/bars and overall phone durability, I'm happier with the Samsung than other brands tested.

Another vote for HTC. SenseUI is above the rest.

It depends on your needs but honestly the market changes every week with new phones coming out. I previously worked for VZW and I am partial to blackberries even though they are usually not the most advanced. The platform works great and the messaging, email are simple. Honestly I prefer HTC over Motorola and wasn'r crazy about LG; but like Isaid before, while we're speaking a new, more advanced phone might be out tomorrow.

I have an LG and love it, though I haven't gotten to try other brands much besides playing with them in the store. But mine has been great so far.

I've had LG, Samsung, and HTC. HTC has the best build quality of the three. Nice solid feeling phone. I've heard LG has improved but I don't think I'll be finding out anytime soon. I had a Samsung Captivate before I got my HTC Inspire. The Cappy feels like a cheap plastic toy compared to the Inspire. Also had the HTC Pure, it was plastic too but solid. Kept that one for too long.
Don't really care about the software because I use XDA to upgrade all the roms. I think HTC is a little more developer friendly than the rest. Definitely better than Motorola anyway.
As long as it's Android, I'll be happy.

HTC by far...Samsung is beyond terrible for updating anything. Moto has a mediocre build quality at best to me. I don't dig the phones with the plastic like and hollow feel.

Got a hold of a T-Mobile G2X today for review. This one is nice. real nice. (you can now ignore post number "3") Solid feel, fast. good sound quality. Too bad it is on T-mobile.
