Having used 3G and 4G networks from both companies, I can say that Verizon definitely provides a more consistent experience, though AT&T's 3G can be faster than Verizon's 3G under the right circumstances. Regardless, I found this story to be hilarious. File it under "things a CEO should never say, even if true".
Interesting - that thought hadn't even occurred to me. I expect we'll hear a lot of "oh, woe is us, our competitors have such a HUGE and UNFAIR advantage over us" in the coming months. Probably starting right about now.
You can't have a double standard. Either they're all 4G or they're all not.
Origianlly LTE and WiMAX were clearly defined as 4G technologies by the ITU....HSPA was not T mobile jump started all this hoopla with saying " Well our 4G (HSPA) has DL speeds comparable to WiMAX so we're going to call our techincally 3G network 4G"
AT&T seen that it worked for T-mobile and they wanted in on the fun, so now 3G networks are masked as 4G.

ITU originally only considered WIMAX 2 and LTE Adv as 4G. They revised it to include WIMAX, LTE and HSPA+.
So with the original standards none of them are 4G. With the newer standards, they all are. So pick one to follow.

HSPA+ is not a next gen technology, the way WiMAX and LTE are....its an upgrade to an already exsisting 3G network standard HSPA...That's like saying EVDO Rev A to Rev B would count Rev B as being "4G"
I have ATT's 4G and it blooooooooooows........good thing I have wifi nearly everywhere I go :P
That's been my experience, too. Their coverage is too spotty to maintain reliable service, let alone hold on to decent speeds. Around here (Pennsylvania statewide), they keep falling back to UMTS / EDGE / GPRS / CSD.
