I've noticed this often lately. Where if my talking overlaps with the speech of another person on the other end, the sound of their speech cuts out. I don't recall this happening in the past. Is this common with all cell phones or just mine? It is an AT&T service, with a 5 year old Motorola V557 cell phone, when I bought it, it was supposed to be one of the most advanced models they sold.

Odd, someone just gave me a positive rating for this post, even though it has never received a response.

This sounds like its on speakerphone? I dont believe that phone supports duplex audio operation on speakerphone which is why it cuts out when both people are talking at the same time.

5 years is LONG time in the cell phone universe

Wow! Thanks, a real live response to my question. My phone is around 8 years old now. I have not noticed the problem in a long time so either ATT fixed it or in the past it the other party was using speakerphone, I was not aware of it.

Regardless, I only use my cell phone for emergencies, and use the ATT $100 prepaid service good for 1 year. And I rarely use that $100 prepaid amount, so don't have much incentive to go buy a new phone.

I do use an iPod Touch as a digital organizer however and love all of its features that I an access over wifi. Lots of free wifi in my area. I may have to upgrade to an iPhone now that there are much more reasonable plans offered for someone who rarely uses a cell phone, such as myself. The data service would be nice for mapping, email, trapster, etc.
