If you've installed this update have you figured out a way to change the display characteristics. The log in keypad and strip across the top are just plain ugly. Some of the menus are also.
Looks more like a downgrade than an upgrade. I left 16 color rgb behind about 20 years ago.
I have now read some critiques of Gingerbread and wish I hadn't installed it. I should know better. Now If I can just find a way to go back to Froyo...

Tek,
I updated to Gingerbread as soon as it was pushed out to me by GOOG.
Using 2.3.3
While it is not the dramatic update that Froyo was, I haven't noticed any issues that bother me.
My EVO does soft restarts a few times a day, typically when I hit the Back button repeatedly. While that started recently, it is a nuisance I cannot peg to Gingerbread.

You can flash it back to froyo... I plan on doing this to my droidx tomorrow, especially because I lost root capability, and now can't tether for free.

Are you part of the XDA forums? From what I've seen you can root and regain free tether APNs quite easily. I know I can with Atrix.

yes I am part of the XDA Forums, but, with the Droid X once there was the over the air update to gingerbread, it removed all roots. As of right now, no one has been able to root it, but by flashing it back to froyo, there is a rooted gingerbread rom that can be flashed onto it afterwards, to gain root access and again be able to use tethering.
You don't have to be rooted to flash it back to froyo. which if you got the update to gingerbread you cant be rooted anyways. At least not unless you go back to froyo.

The problem is that I keep reading that it can be flashed back to Froyo but I have yet to see a description of how do it that makes sense. Most of them are so full of jargon I don't understand that I just give up. YKWIM?
