My wife and I are on AT&T and we got our phones on the same day and so we figured we would be eligible for upgrades on the same day as well. It turns out that upgrade eligibility is dependent upon a lot more than the date you got the phone. It takes into consideration individual or family plan, which line is the main line, and which features you have turned on (AKA, how expensive your line is).

For example, my boss is on an individual plan and pays right at about $100 a month for just his line (he has unlimited messaging and one of the larger data plans). He upgraded to the Dell Streak in September of 2010, just over a year ago and he is already eligible for an upgrade.

On the other hand, I am on a family plan with 3 lines and our total bill is $150 a month.

To sum it up, I am eligible for an upgrade in December and my wife isn't available for an upgrade until March. I really want to upgrade to a Google Nexus Prime or the Samsung Galaxy S2 so that I can have Flash because I am a student and my instructors post a lot of Flash content to watch, but since I am using the iPhone 4 I can't watch them. With one of those phones I could watch video lectures while taking the bus or in the waiting room at the doctors office, etc.

My wife says I can do what I want but it is obvious she wants me to wait until we can upgrade at the same time. I graduate in May so if I wait a lot of my reasoning for wanting to upgrade to those phones is gone. Should I upgrade in December or wait?
