Now that I think about, it makes more practical sense if we can consolidate the zillons club cards out there (Ralphs, Panera Bread, CVS, Walgreens, etc.) onto our smartphones and just wave our smartphones in lieu of digging out one of the many club cards.

Uhhh...a lot of us have been doing this for a couple of years now.

You don't wave it, but the merchant just scans it with their scanner gun. Some businesses (Dick's Sporting Goods) can't get it to scan, but others (CVS) have no problem.

I stopped carrying all of those cards about two years ago. Even the businesses who can't get it to scan can still look at the number and type it in.

Hell, I even have my library card entered into the app.

I'm a dude and I already carry a smartphone, so why would I carry 10 plastic cards in my wallet when I can just put all of those cards into my phone? You don't even have to type most of the numbers in, you can just scan the card with your phone.
