Windows Phone has GPS too, Healthymom, with Bing maps.

Sorry, Giesela, didn't realize the ability to make calls was a deal breaker.
You could probably get away with the cheapie $10/mo data plan then. No way to avoid a monthly data fee on a Smartphone.

I did visit a Verizon store and talk to a very nice young man.
I saw the Galaxy Tab. I think the price was 199.00 although after I got home and googled reviews they were all talking about its enormous price in the 500+ range.
He tried to steer me to the Motorola tablet (bigger) can't remember the name
or the iPad. Apparently with the iPad you can but a data package month by month? I forgot to ask if there are turn on/off fees and he didn't mention them. I would have to give up using my Netbook and use the iPad as my exclusive home tablet and I just don't feel it. It only allows Safari? I had Safari on my eMac and there sites that didn't support the older versions.
They also have a some regular cell phone plans like 100.00 a year for 50 unlimited days if I went the tablet, cellphone route.
honestly it just seems like so much! Cable, internet, data, text, calls and all of it pre-programmed plan prices vs. ala carte ARGH
I need cellular internet cheap...maybe look at the Galaxy tab closer and keep my cheapo cell or wait to see if Verizon gets the Galaxy Journal

Why do you think the Iphone is better? Do you mean it has a better operating system? Andriod is on such a plethora of hardware, the meaning is unclear when someone simply says the Iphone is better.

I went to the AT&T store and played with the Galaxy Note - very cool. Would like one a lot I think but just can't see the monthly charge.

I was probably being dense but finally the AT&T guy explained it to me - with tablets you can get a varied plan, month on month off - even if you just walk in with it. Like say I bought a used iPad 2.

But with a phone you have to have a plan. Since they consider the 'phablet' or phone tablet Galaxy Note a phone - I would have to have a plan - no fair!

So I continue to struggle with the decision. Apr 22 the Galaxy 7.0 is coming out, a cheaper not as great 7.0 plus or 7.7. Its going to retail for 250.00 That might be an option. If I wait long enough a bunch of other smaller tablets will be coming out though I don't know how much I care about the details (the AMOLED screen whatever that is, is nice tho. Or maybe eventually Verizon or some other carrier will get a version of the Note and have more flexible aka cheaper for me phone an data plans.

Giesela, have you made a choice?
I am researching different options for myself, as well.
