I (the OP) recently purchased the EVO V, basically a re-badged, prepaid EVO 3D for Virgin Mobile, three weeks ago and got it activated a little under two weeks ago. I am still learning to use it (I don't make much of an effort), but I can say that it's a great phone. I am admittedly very proud of myself for buying it on eBay for $230 with a car charger, skins, and protective casing, and getting Virgin Mobile's service at bargain prices ($35 / month, unlimited 3G/4G data, unlimited texts, 300 voice minutes). The 3D feature is very cool and hardly a gimmick if you are creative.
The drawbacks: 1) The phone's orientation sensor seems to be inconsistent in its operation. 2) The battery life is absolutely wretched, especially with WiFi / GPS / Bluetooth enabled. I am actually considering buying a new battery because of it. 3) Sprint, whose network Virgin Mobile uses, is poor in my area, and the nearest place I can access 4G from is 150 miles away. I never seem to get five bars, and at work it's typically zero to one bar (zero does not indicate complete lack of service, but dialing is finnicky and it takes a long time to sign into Facebook - however, music from Spotify streams fine). However, I do not get why people demand "7-15 mbps" service from their phone, unless tethered. A consistent 400 kbps is fine for me, which allows me to stream music and watch YouTube videos at standard crappy mobile resolution.
