First phone was in the early '90s. No clue what make or model. My account was with L.A. Cellular...

Fast forward to my first smartphone - couldn't tell you what makes/models I had before that.

Kyocera 6035

Kyocera 7135

Treo 650

Treo Centro

HTC Evo 4G

Samsung Epic 4G

HTC Evo 4G LTE

I think that's all of them. The 6135 I got around late 2000 or early/mid 2001. I got the Samsung because the Evo got destroyed, and I wanted my replacement phone to have a physical keyboard. It was a decent phone, I guess, but it really didn't compare with the Evo, so I only kept it for a couple of months before upgrading to the Evo 4G LTE. Now I just need LTE service in my city...

1991 - Motorola bag phone through Cellular One..... monthly service didn't include any minutes, calls were 38-45 cents per minute depending on call volume. Actually took it out of the bag and hardwired the system into my car so I had a "car phone". Used that until analog service was eliminated and I was forced to upgrade.....

Got a Motorola flip phone in 1996 (don't remember model #) with an LED display that displayed the number only. Traded that in for a Motorola V66 in 2001 that I used literally until 6 months ago. Finally traded up to a Motorola V3i Razr so I'm only 5 years behind the times now :-)

I've been with T-Mobile since 1996 when they were Aerial Communications in Minneapolis (Aerial merged with Voicestream which ultimately became T-Mobile)

My first phone in/around 1999. My parents bought me it for graduation; I hardly used it. But had it for almost 5 years until...

A pretty good phone, great camera and music player. Bought my wife a Blackberry Pearl at the same time, refurbished for $99.

Then...

Awesome at the time. Bought 2 refurbished. We both had major headaches the day we got them, because we were looking at the screens so much. After a while they just got slow. I dropped mine, fixed the screen but the headphone jack was messed up after that.

Then...

I bought my wife an iPhone 4s, which is really nice and we haven't had any problems so far with it. And I bought...

The only thing really "wrong" with the phone is the build quality. It may be better at most drops with against the iPhone, but it feels really weak and pliable. With my new case it feels a lot better; it's just too bulky now. I recently dropped my phone again and the screen broke, but it was pretty easy to put back together.

Well...maybe I have a couple other complaints...like no HD screen and subpar audio quality, but I think those are minor. There are ocassional battery bugs that hit me and that's no fun. One bad app or system process; the phone gets a little hot and the next thing you know you're at 5% battery life left.

I can't wait for Jelly Bean; I might put a JB rom on it but so far the phone is working fine.

I'm hoping that I don't get the itch to buy a new phone and hope this one lasts a while longer.

No way I could remember them all. My first was in 1995, a big clunky thing, and I have upgraded every two years since so that's a total of 9 before the current android.

My first phone, which I got in January of 2011 was a Samsung Solstice. I had that for a couple of months then I accidentally dropped it from the second floor of my high school so I got another phone but can't remember what it was called.

I upgraded to an iPhone 4 in June of that year and am upgrading to an HTC One X this Saturday.

All of the phones were with AT&T.

I do like the iPhone but I want something with a larger screen and something that has flash.

Not like many people ever read these kind of threads, much less care, but...

My first cell phone ever was (1) the Sprint PCS "Touchpoint" by Denso in 1999. Then:
(2) Blue "Touchpoint" on SPCS
(3) Green "Touchpoint" on SPCS

Switched to Verizon in 2001, and never looked back; their cell network gave me a strong signal everywhere Sprint didn't, and they answered the phone right away when I called customer service, whereas Sprint put me on hold EVERY TIME for anywhere between 15 and 50 minutes if I needed to talk to someone. It was quite dreadful to call in to Sprint. (I've heard Sprint is much better now, but I wouldn't know first hand. To this day, I've not been compelled to give them any of my business.)

My first phone on Verizon was (4) the LG TM510. Then:
(5) Motorola V-60i
(6) Motorola V-60s
(7) LG VX-6100
(8) "unauthorized" Alltel Nokia something-or-other (this was before they stopped allowing non-Verizon branded phones)
(9) Motorola V-265
(10) LG VX-8100
(11) Motorola RAZR v3c (what a POS!)
(12) Casio G'zOne "Type S"
(13) Casio G'zOne "Rock"

On to T-Mobile with (14) the T-Mobile "G2" by HTC;

Then right back to Verizon within 5 months with (15) the HTC Thunderbolt.

I've also have or have had the following on prepaid accounts:

(16) Nokia 2720 on T-Mobile;
sometimes I swap my T-Mobile SIM over to a (beat-up but functional and free to me) LG Optimus-T (17)

On Tracfone, where I ported in my last home land-line phone number, I've had (18) the LG 600g which used the AT&T network;
when that phone was damaged recently, I switched to the (19) LG 221c, a much better phone which uses the Verizon network.

So that's 19 phones that I can remember off the top of my head, not including warranty replacements and such. At the moment, I have 3 working lines, and 4 working phones--two flip phones and two Android smart phones.

What year do you think this phone was from? It was probably one of my dad's earlier phones. We found it thrown away.

My dad had several phones throughout the 90s. I believe his first phone was purchased around 1989. He was an independent contractor and constantly on the go, so his mobile phone was of great convenience to him (though he could not believe his eyes when he got his first bill). I remember him getting an AT&T phone with an LCD display (rather than LED) in 1998 (perhaps he did not have a cell phone for a while then?), and one with internet access in around 2000, though it was practically useless because it could only view WAP pages, having a tiny monochrome LCD screen and all.
