I have Verizon and got the Samsung Galaxy Nexus back in mid-December of 2011 when it was first launched. I love the phone, best one I've ever owned. I would either go with the Samsung Galaxy SIII, the latest Google Phone (should be unveiled some time in October), or the iPhone 5.
I was sold on the Galaxy III even though most of its capabilites point more to toy than tool, but then the rest of my family upgraded on their AT & T plan and came home with new windows phones. I like them quite a bit. Plus the I5 will be out in a week. I am just going to wait until I can compate the windows 8 phones and the I5. GalazxyIII does nto do anyhting that I need that my current Droid 2 will not do. However it will supposedly malfunction a lot less (but that is what they told me about the droid 2).
My fear with Nexus and Galaxy is call quality. I heard that Nexus was really great except for call quality and data access.
Motorola has a couple new phones coming out or they might even be out. I think Razr HD Razr HD maxx and Razr M. Other than that the popular phones are the S3 and the Razr Maxx.

Samsung Galaxy S3. Excellent in all matters. Sound quality is excellent. Don't buy accessories from VZ. Buy them from Ebay.
Probably the only ones I'd consider at this point are the Galaxy SIII and Razr Maxx. All other Android phones have horrible battery life unless you buy an extended battery that makes your phone a brick. I'm probably switching to iPhone here shortly, as I have given up on my Droid Charge. It's a complete POS. Turn GPS on and 4G LTE signal and the phone is dead within a couple hours. What's the point of a smartphone then?
