I have Android 2.3.3 on an HTC Inspire. How would I go about upgrading to a newer Android?
I went to Menu > Settings and the only update thing was ATT Software Update. Is that to update Android or what? Yes, ATT is my service.
This ATT Software Update showed me a list of one option, Update. I tapped it and a dialog saying to connect the phone to my computer or wifi to download the update but I pressed Back, since I'm not sure what it is.
I went back to Settings and tapped on ATT Software Update and now the only option is Continue Update
If updating to a new Android is really long and complicated, I'd rather not do it.
I went ahead with the update. I went to a wifi place and rebooted, and a dialog asked me if I wanted the update again. I said OK. It loaded files for about 20-minutes. It restarted and installed for about 10 minutes. It went to 2.3.5.
My Gallery icon had changed into an Android Market icon and wouldn't respond. I trashed it and copied the one from the All Apps and it worked okay, though the photo/video galleries now look different and added a slide show.
The unlock screen is totally different now. I used to pull down on a curved thing but now I have to slide upwards a ring.
If I check updates again, will it go to the next Android?
I used to have a problem with entering text into a textbox while in Landscape. It seems to be okay now.
