My company is going to be upgrading hundreds of employee I-phones fairly soon.
What do you think they will do with the old ones? Will the provider just get them back and re-sell them? I am wondering if there is a chance I could buy it from my employer.
All cell phones have the ability to call 911, even if it has no service. These should be donated to groups that in turn give them to those who can't afford their own phones.
I know that is true about old cel phones, but I wonder what would really be done with 200+ Iphones, version 3g and 3gs. Would a company that bought all those for employees just give them to charity?
These phones will likely be recycled or donated. They will be refurbished and resold. There's a very slim chance that they will be given away to people who cannot afford phones.
I just thought of a possibility thath they may be destroyed if the company is concerned about sensitive data on the phones.

KittenSparkles, Just ask them if you can keep it.
Thanks. I will most likely ask, and depending on the price, might buy it from them.
