I've got an older phone, and when the S4 comes out and the S3 drops in price, I plan to pick it up on Tmobile. But how many more updates is it suppose to get?

It'll either be the S3 or the Nexus 4. Whatever phone I get I plan to have for 2 years so I expect the Nexus 4 to definitely get more updates including Key Lime Pie, but will the S3 even get all of Jellybean?

By the time the S4 comes out it'll be more comparable in price to the Nexus 4, and when you get their, I just don't like certain things about the Nexus. The apparent poor battery life for one, and of course you can't replace it, or upgrade the storage, and I don't like how the screen isn't actually 4.7 inches unless you're viewing videos due to the soft keys. Stupid I know but still.

That and I'll actually be able to find a Galaxy S3, whereas the Nexus who knows.

As far as I know the Galaxy S3 will receive the Andorid 4.1 Jelly Bean update. It might be possible that it will recive the 4.2 update as well. I am also looking forward to buying one. Right now I am using the Galaxy S Advance that is also a good phone but I use it for a while now. [mod]snip[/mod] I like Samsung devices very much but the Nexus 4 also seems to be a good decision.

I thought JB already rolled out to the S3.
It will probably get Key Lime Pie and that might be it. I doubt it will get Licorice although it may (or whatever L turns out to be).

I'm talking more 4.2. All of Jellybean, not just the 4.1 it's running, but the 4.2 that the Nexus 4 has.

If I were you, I would go with the Nexus 4. Google learned their lesson after the Galaxy Nexus issues and Verizon taking forever to push the updates through.

I would grab a Nexus 4 as you know right out of the box you're getting Android 4.2 and the phone will be getting the Android 5.0 update when the latest version is released this Summer. The Galaxy s3 may be very slow in getting the 5.0 upgrade.

Yea but I don't like the hardware of the Nexus 4. The screen is smaller, the camera is worse, the screen less responsive, no removable battery or memory that can be upgraded, which is a major concern given all the post I've read on the Nexus 4's terrible battery life and space stuck at, what, 13.3 gigs after all the OS, that's just not enough. It is faster however on all accounts, and I do like the stock android over Touchwiz, but I'd likely use Go Launcher anyway.

Whatever phone I wanna get I'm not gonna do the whole, replace in a year. The Galaxy s3 isn't even a year old. One thing I don't like about Android is the lack of updates, but I suppose that comes from the fragmentation of Android and having to go through both Manufacturers and Carriers for updates.
