Hi everyone. Have been in the electronics forum as I
Am testing out GPS units.
One of my requirements is to charge the iPhone
4 with the GPS. Have a Toyota corolla w/only
The lighter as energy port. It sits right in front
Of my shifter while car in park & was kincking
The phone & GPS cords.
Finally bought a cup holder extension
To bring the energy ports out from the dash.
Called apple for ideas as best buy was selling
Chargers which made it worse. Auto zone solved
The problem.
The apple sr tech rep did warn me to keep the output
For phone USB to 1amp/5 volts. He said people have
Been using same charger for iPhone, iPad &
iPod. This has resulted in battery damage after
A while because the other units require more
Juice than a phone can safely handle.
Mine was ok but I did look @ replacement
Cords @ auto zone. Their output was higher
Than 1amp.
Anyone else run into this?
Pretty sure apple is correct, so please be careful.
He said damage not obvious immediately.
