The goal: Stream wirelessly video stored on my Android phone (not YouTube, Netflix, etc) directly to TV with say AppleTV attached to it (it's not a smart TV, but a smart TV would have wifi as if the AppleTV were built in). Also, be able to use the phone itself for other things while playing the video on the TV (streaming in the background), as I can be a bit ADD/multitasking during most movies.
I can't tell all too well based on Google Play app descriptions alone, but most of them mention and make it appear to require the use of either: 1. a PC in the middle (no, no, no!), 2. only works with Netflix, YouTube, or similar, but not video stored on your phone, or 3. some other caveat.
I will likely email the developers of these apps anyway to ask them this question, but I'm curious if other C-D users have thought of/tried this scenario, before I just go out and buy an AppleTV or similar attachment.
