OK, let's break out those tinfoil hats so that big brother can't read out minds. Those articles sound like a conspiracy theory to me.

Nope, no tin foil needed because it all sad fact, and no not putting this in every thread but hey you paid attention at least which is more than most clueless phone users do.
These gadgets we have are all good, until they get used AGAINST you.

Not really sure what your point is. Of course the best way to avoid certain electronic tracking methods is to avoid certain devices.

Also, what's to say it's harder to do the same sorts of things with a dumb phone? If anything, I'd suspect it's easier to do simply because no one has been paying attention to security on those devices at all.

And who's to say the iOS exploits that they had back in 2008 (iOS 1.0 - didn't even have an app store) are still working in 2014?

I ditched all electronic communication and entertainment. I'm up on a mountain right now, I just killed a grizzly, should last me through the winter plus now I got a sweet blanket/parka thing to wear.

News flash: "dumb" phones run software too. Software you don't even have access to. Which means you have less visibility to what someone might be monitoring.

At least with iPhone and Android you can access and potentially stop the processes that someone like the NSA sticks on there.
