I'm a current Tmobile user who will switch from a blackberry to smartphone. Any suggestions on a good smartphone that is around 50 bucks? I plan to keep my current TMobile plan. A GSM smartphone that is. Thanks.

Talk to the people who will be servicing you when you do change phones.
Make (up) a lot of complaints (squeeky wheel gets greased),
and get a free one.
For $50 there is not much in smartphones but you can go to Walmart, Walgreens, Target, Best Buy or any other place that sell no contract phones for TMobile and see what they have on sale and buy one and just slip in your sim and you should be good to go, although they were not meant for sale for those reasons. HERE is one I found at Walmart and HERE is another I found at Best Buy for $59.99 to give you some ideas.
Yea, that's the problem. "I want a cheap phone... but a good one..."
And then someone buys a cheapo Android and winds up hating it. If $50 is your budget, you should shop used on Ebay\Craiglist.

Pretty much. You're not going to get a good no contract phone for $50. You might get one used that was "good" 3 or 4 years ago, but nothing current.
If anyone else is looking, the Nokia Lumia 521 goes on sale for around that price occasionally. That's going to be a better option than the Android phones in that price range, which tend to be laggy and buggy.
That is what i bought...Lumia 521...btw, there is a sale today for a brand new one at newegg costing $59.99 with a special discount code. PM me if you're interested buying one with the code.
