I haven't use Waze for a long time. I tried it when it first came out and it was based more on user experience and wasn't very good. I'll have to give it a try again. I've found GMaps to be pretty accurate for traffic though.
What you mean that it was based more on user experience? Google Maps is heavily based on user experience... as are most mobile apps.
I'm very experienced with Waze and suggest you give it another chance.
I think it was easy to learn (once you get the concept of smartphone nav).
And it lets you add an intermediate stop, so you could set the destination, then pick a point off-interstate as the intermediate.
I tried and find it too distracting when on the road. Who needs all the social crap while driving?
"One tap navigation to Facebook events.
✓ See Facebook friends driving to the same place
✓ Notify someone you're on your way by sending a live ETA and a link showing you as you drive"
Really? Do I need to interact with Facebook even when driving?

When Waze was first released, a lot of routes were not available because no one had driven them--they tracked the route you took and added that to their system basically. They have since updated to using Google Map. Google Maps is based on GPS and DOT information and routes are available as long as the local maps are accurate.
