What you mean that it was based more on user experience? Google Maps is heavily based on user experience... as are most mobile apps.

I think it was easy to learn (once you get the concept of smartphone nav).

And it lets you add an intermediate stop, so you could set the destination, then pick a point off-interstate as the intermediate.
I tried and find it too distracting when on the road. Who needs all the social crap while driving?

"One tap navigation to Facebook events.
✓ See Facebook friends driving to the same place
✓ Notify someone you're on your way by sending a live ETA and a link showing you as you drive"

Really? Do I need to interact with Facebook even when driving?

The whole thing is just juvenile. Look at the silly, little icons. They distract and they cover my map.

I better stick to Trapster. Been using it for many years now...

How about Copilot?

It's not cheap, but is one of the best navigational apps around. Maybe what you want is a maps app instead of a navigational app?

CoPilot is great. It's my navigation app I use overseas!

Orrrrrr
You could simply disable the displays of all those distractions with a few simple configuration choices and use it's Nav alone.

I agree that I really don't need to know where all the other Wazers are. I even have the voice route-instructions turned off.

When Waze was first released, a lot of routes were not available because no one had driven them--they tracked the route you took and added that to their system basically. They have since updated to using Google Map. Google Maps is based on GPS and DOT information and routes are available as long as the local maps are accurate.
